Josh Meyer founded Imaginary Authors in Portland, Oregon, framing every release as the fragrance of a novel he invented, complete with author, jacket copy and publication date.
The conceit gives the compositions room to be specific rather than commercial. Memoirs of a Trespasser is a vanilla-and-oud; A City on Fire is smoke and fig; Cape Heartache is a Pacific Northwest forest.
