Linda Pilkington founded Ormonde Jayne in London in 2002, working with the perfumer Geza Schoen. The house is known for sourcing materials that were uncommon in Western perfumery at the time.
Ormonde Woman is its signature: a dark, resinous composition built around black hemlock absolute, which almost no other house uses. The line has stayed small and independent, sold largely through its own boutiques.
