Acqua di Parma

Italian perfume house, founded in 1916 by Carlo Magnani.

Colonia launched in Parma in 1916: Sicilian citrus over lavender and rosemary, in the yellow cylindrical box the house still uses. It became a signature of Italian tailoring and was worn on screen by much of mid-century Hollywood.

The house nearly disappeared before being revived in the 1990s by a group of Italian businessmen, and was later acquired by LVMH. The Colonia range has expanded considerably, but the original remains the reference point.
